Re: Rose's Outfit...
Gans said it's meant to show that Rose is being "impregnated" with Alessa's thoughts. It's no coincidence that the outfit first turns grey, and then later blood red.

Re: New composer?
Takashi Nakagawa was the enemy programmer on MGS V, whereas Forssell was the composer on that game. If Kojima chose Forssell to compose over Nakagawa once, it's unlikely that he wouldn't do it again. It's even possible that the Takashi who composes film music is not the same as the one working at Ko...

New composer?
Assuming the devs listed at the end of the demo are working on Silent Hills, and not just the one demo, then the new composer would be Ludvig Forssell. This choice shouldn't be surprising, since he's worked with Kojima before on MGS. Here's a look at his IMDb page: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5603882/

Barbed wire symbolism in climax sequence
I recently noticed that concept artworks of Alessa's revenge scene show a different origin of the barbed wire than was shown in the final film. In the movie, the barbed wire comes out of the back of Alessa's hospital bed, writhing around to in front of the bed and attacking the cultists. However, in...

Re: Jim Sterling praises Revelation as an unintentional come
I laughed anytime Memory of Alessa appeared, because her makeup was just. so. awful.

Re: Third movie, new story?
Well no, probably not. But they could've just removed some stuff from the game and simplified things, not make pointless changes like with the names, the nature of the town, the nature of Alessa/Cheryl, etc. Instead of simplifying things, they made another convoluted confusing story. The only name ...

Re: Third movie, new story?
It is not possible to take a story written for a video game, especially one as deep and convulated as Silent Hill, and adapt it into a movie that anyone other than the most hardcore fanboys would want to watch. It would suck ass and be either 4 hours long, or so full of straight exposition that ther...

Blu-Ray concept art
These are images of concept artwork that appear on the French Metropolitan Blu-Ray. I don't have any way of ripping images off a Blu-Ray, so the pics were taken with my phone. Excuse the poor quality please. :) Also, if anyone knows how to make the images smaller so they don't stretch the screen, I'...

Silent Hill: January 2005
I previously posted about a script draft for the Silent Hill movie dated October 2004, which contained several notable differences to the final product. I've now managed to obtain a draft dated January 31, 2005, which is much closer to the film that was shot, but with its own set of differences. Thi...

Re: Blu-Ray commentary
Another tidibt: apparently Dahlia was married or engaged and conceived Alessa in a bout of extramarital lovin'. The concept was to go back through all the places that we’d visited in this adventure, and to give an explanation why these places were so important to Alessa, how these places had been ...

Re: DVD commentary
Having rewatched the Blu-Ray commentary, I found a few more tidbits. * Gans says Dark Alessa's appearance is specifically based on the little girls in Kill, Baby... Kill! and Toby Dammit. Surprisingly, both of the girls are blonde. These are the two girls: http://cdn.chud.com/9/94/500x1000px-LL-9401...

Re: Gans on Alessa being molested....
I can see that. I was really only aware of the one, more confusing reason, rather than the maternity angle, which is a lot better. It seems like the idea behind the conflict in Aliens , only with more flawed maternal figures (Dahlia is obviously not the greatest mother, and Rose da Silva, while mea...

Re: Gans on Alessa being molested....
Feeling Harry's actions were maternal wasn't the only reason Gans made Harry into Rose. He also wanted the film to be about maternity and matriarchy, which is hard to do if your lead character is male. I'm certain Cybil is homosexual in the film, but I doubt it had anything to do with Gans not under...

Re: SH + SHR French Collector's Box
The French Metropolitan blu-ray edition is (mostly) region free and English friendly, and is your best bet for extra features. It has the original movie, 90 minutes of behind the scenes, director commentary, producer and editor commentary, a segment of Gans talking about how great Silent Hill 2 is (...

Re: Third movie, new story?
All you're doing is spouting a bunch of nonsense in an effort to hide that you are blatantly wrong. It's absurd that you seem to actually believe that two stories that are very close to identical will not result in a winning lawsuit. By the "logic" you're using, there's no reason to copyri...

Re: Third movie, new story?
There is no way in hell either SH movie would fall into the category of a "transformative work" - that's utterly ridiculous. They're derivative works, which are defined as "A “derivative work†is a work based upon one or more preexisting works, such as a translation, musical arran...
